Zini
The wonder dog! The Italian mutt who used to run around an Italian corn field until my sister Madeline asked the cornfield farmer, in Italian, if we could keep her. We got her about 9 years ago while living in Vicenza. Zini is short for Calzini which means socks in Italian.
A little fur ball, Zini has become a certified lap dog who like sitting only on the left side. She loves chasing squirrels, chipmunks, German shepards, and cicadas. When we had the cicada invasion this summer, she ate them like candy. Although not much bigger than a bread box, Zini thinks she is big enough to conquer the world or at least any stranger that comes to the door.
Originally Madeline's dog, Zini is a momma's dog who won't sit with anyone else while my mom is home. She follows my mom around while she does laundry, makes beds, does paper work, etc. If my mom isn't home, she'll follow the next runner up, me, then Claire. Where my mom goes, Zini goes. Where Zini goes, Rusty goes. Zini is the brains and Rusty is the comic sidekick in their dynamic duo. Rusty left his litter and moved in with us and has never been alone in his life for more than a few hours.
Zini loves car rides, but will whine and complain if she can't stick her entire head, neck, and paws out the window to let her ears flap in the breeze.
